To celebrate Spanish Language Day on 23 April, our English & Spanish Immersion Kindergarten Classes had a combined lunch, sharing special foods from different Spanish speaking countries. After eating we watched some videos showing traditional dances from Spanish speaking countries, had “Show & Tell” time where students who brought in items representative of various Spanish speaking countries shared them with the classes. We played “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” and a matching game with cards of different animals. The animal names were written in Spanish and we had to find our partner animal by making animal sounds. Then we practiced saying the animal names in Spanish and English. The students also colored flags from different Spanish speaking countries. The Immersion students had to tell the English Kindergartners what the colors were….using Spanish and English.

Spanish Language Day was a fun and full day and everyone had a great time.
