Forward in Faith 2020-2021
Dear CCS families,
It’s been quite a year! With all of the hospital stories, elections, health advisories, masks, mandates, rapid tests, shut-downs, and quarantines, it can feel like our heads are spinning from the uncertainty and the constant change around us.
But now, perhaps more than ever, it is important that we turn to God and reflect not only on our trials, but on the things we are thankful for.
We, on the board, are incredibly grateful for our teachers and staff, who have worked tirelessly to help the school maintain an “A” rating for 11 years in a row. With private schools closing across the country, we are grateful to have welcomed more than 40 new families this year. And, most of all, we are grateful for the freedom we have to continue offering a rigorous, Christ-centered education to our children, even in the most uncertain of times.
Mr. Rogers once said, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me: ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ ”
Though it’s certainly true that 2020 has been tough, at the corner of Day and Fir, helpers abound. And it’s for them that we launch our 2020-2021 Forward in Faith fundraising campaign.
Our teachers and staff have truly stepped up during this unprecedented time, finding new and innovative ways to deliver the highest-quality instruction to our children. A portion of the funds raised this year will go toward providing each of our 15 teachers a school-issued laptop.
Additionally, we’d love to continue improving their classrooms and our school building. Thanks to last year’s Forward in Faith campaign, CCS will be getting a new roof over Christmas break. Next on the list? New flooring throughout, and repairs to our sidewalk and parking lot. Funds will also be set aside for a new HVAC system, which we’ll need to replace in 2021.
Finally, as we begin to look seriously towards the future, we’ve started meeting with construction companies about our long-awaited building expansion, including a gym! Funds are needed to draw up formal plans. It’s possible that if we’re able to acquire a lead gift for that project early next year, we could have a gym ready for use in the fall of 2021!
In total, we’re hoping to raise $45,000 for this year’s Forward in Faith fundraising campaign.
You, our school families, are the most important “helpers” of all.
