Read Principal Hesselink's Forward in Faith Letter

Dear Covenant Friends,

As we remember God’s wonderful gift of Jesus during Advent and Christmas, these seasons invite us to live generously toward others. At this holiday season, we ask that you prayerfully consider a year end tax-deductible gift to Covenant Christian School. God has brought together great kids, a dynamic staff, an energized board, and committed parents—and good things are happening here! But we need the ongoing support of the Covenant community to keep our school moving forward in faith as we educate the next generation.

Thanks to the hard work of our teachers, staff, and students, we are making headlines both in and out of the classroom. Covenant’s excellence in education was recognized yet again by the Indiana Department of Education: we’ve earned  an “A” grade and recognized as a 4-star school. Our kids participate in a host of rich opportunities like robotics, coding, math competitions, a spring musical, foreign languages, Spanish Immersion, leadership training, Christian service, Spanish pen pals, a nature club, hand chimes, ukuleles, chess, soccer, and winter basketball. These experiences help them discover the unique abilities and interests God has given them. And just this fall, WSBT covered our Puerto Rican relief efforts, which you can view on our website.

As we give thanks for all these good things, we are also planning for the future. Our student enrollment is growing, so we are in the very early stages of a much needed building expansion, including adding a portable classroom to meet our immediate needs. We’ve developed a new look—and logo—to better represent Covenant’s identity. And we are launching a new website to improve communication between the school and the public. Supporting Covenant will be easier than ever with these new online tools.

As we move forward in faith and continue to offer an outstanding education to our children, please consider a year end gift to Covenant. Our needs include the portable classroom, a 14 passenger mini van or small bus, additional playground equipment sized for the preschool children, several new SMART boards for the classrooms, consumable supplies for art, preschool and WrapAround. Also, please begin to pray about a gift toward the upcoming building campaign.

Kindergarten &
5th Graders are Reading Buddies!

The older students read to the younger students and help the kindergarten kids read to back them.  The 5th graders also assist the little ones in projects, crafts and learning activities, like writing books and working on puppet shows.  The big ones and the little ones really enjoy each other!

Meet our New Assistant Principal

I am happy to be part of the Covenant Christian School’s staff this year as a part-time assistant principal.  I retired in June after 23 years as a teacher and 20 years as an administrator in public and private schools.  When I heard of Covenant’s need for some administrative help, I knew this was God’s call for me.  It’s been a blessing to be able to serve in many ways, from greeting students during drop-off and pick-up to assisting with individual academic needs. I also serve as a consultant to teachers who need ideas to help with instruction or discipline. In a busy place like Covenant Christian, it’s easy to find ways to serve!
